 Roger C. Sullivan, Jr. A.I.C., A.R.M.

 

Roger Sullivan is the Senior Consultant and Principal of the Insurance Consulting Company. He directs the insurance management and technical consulting practice. Mr. Sullivan established the firm following thirty-one years of claims, operational management and technical experience as a senior executive in the Property and Casualty insurance industry. Mr. Sullivan specializes in consulting with management, regulators and allied industries on a wide range of strategic and organizational issues, including development of loss and loss expense strategies, analyses of case reserving practices, and assessment of organizational structure and procedures.  Mr. Sullivan has participated in a number of large merger and acquisition analysis. Mr. Sullivan has planned and implemented five major reorganizations of companies processing flows and structures. Mr. Sullivan has managed the project, and acted as the claims technical resource, for the construction and implementation of five automated claims and policy administration systems. He has an in depth technical knowledge of Main Frame, Client Server, “Thin” Client Server and Browser based processing applications. 

 Prior to joining Insurance Consulting Company, Mr. Sullivan served as Executive Vice President of Operations with the Superior Insurance Group, Vice President of Claims with the Atlanta Casualty Insurance Group, Vice President of Operations and Claims with the Atlantic American Group (Georgia Casualty Company) and as the Director of Claims Administration with the Commercial Union Insurance Company. In these positions he has been responsible for the organizational design, acquisitions, automation and the general management of large scale Casualty and Property, Life and Health Insurance operations. He has provided expert testimony on a broad range of Casualty and Property Insurance topics.

Mr. Sullivan has extensive experience in the handling and auditing of Property and Casualty claims at the primary, excess, and reinsurance levels. His background includes handling claims exposures in Personal & Commercial Lines Auto, Long Haul & Short Haul Trucking, Products Liability, General Liability & Contract, Inland & Ocean Marine, Toxic Tort, Medical & Legal Malpractice, Real Property Losses, Bond, Surety & Fidelity, Workers Compensation, Employers Liability, Long Shoreman & Harbor Workers Act, FELA, Structural Work Act, and Occupational Disease.

Mr. Sullivan has been active in a number of industry organizations and legislative committees including the Georgia Governors Committee on Tort Reform, serving as the Georgia House and Senates’ Insurance Committee Legislative Advisor. He is a member of the Southeastern Claims Executive Association and the Risk Management Society. 

 Mr. Sullivan was the coauthor of the original fraud detection profiles adopted by the Insurance Crime Prevention Institute. Mr. Sullivan has authored several training courses on the Evaluation and Negotiation of Bodily Injury Claims. He has written claims handling Guidelines relating to Worker's Compensation Claim Handling, Surety and Contractor Bond Claim Handling, Federal Employer Liability Act and Longshoremen and Harbor Worker's Claims. Mr. Sullivan has appeared on CNBC as a panel discussion participant relating to the impact of Preferred Provider Organizations and Expert Software on the medical cost containment of Worker's Compensation and Personnel Income Protection claims. Mr. Sullivan has written monographs on insurance policy construction and case reserving practices, and coverage implications of mold claims for the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.  

 Mr. Sullivan has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Colorado State University and a Masters Degree in Finance from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania. He has completed the American Insurance Institute / Wharton School of Business Advanced Executive Education Program.  In addition to having Associate In Claims and Risk Management designations he is a graduate of Vale Technical Institutes’ Property and Auto estimating courses. Mr. Sullivan has completed in excess of 110 specialty claim-training courses. Mr. Sullivan is listed in the Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America, The Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, and The Who’s Who in the Southeast.

 

 

 

    

      Elise Quadrozzi, CPCU, ARP, AM, AIU

Elise Quadrozzi ‘s insurance career spans over 15 years, encompassing Claims, Product Management and Information Technology.  She has held several senior level management positions, most recently as Director of Application Services with Superior Insurance Group.  

She has extensive experience in claims auditing, complex coverage analysis, bad faith cases, and workflow analysis and re-engineering. She has authored training and procedural manuals for both Claims and Product management to provide performance measurement standards.  

She has served as project manager and co-developer on many e-commerce and electronic projects including: development of a web site designed to quote, rate, and bind automobile insurance on-line; application upload; and a web-based application for agents to view account information on-line. She has developed and implemented web-site advertising campaigns including use of specific meta-tags designed to improve search engine placement. She also has store front e-commerce experience including the integration of credit card payments using CyberCash and SSL security protocol.  

Ms. Quadrozzi has assisted in the design, development, testing, and implementation of claims and policy processing systems, along with approving and implementing user requested enhancements and improvements to these systems. This required the drafting of detailed specifications to programmers outlining the functionality requested by users of the systems. She has also worked in tandem with Network and Programming teams on many projects including point of sale server implementation; rating disk design, testing and implementation; mainframe program conversions; and new system development. 

Elise Quadrozzi holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Shorter College, along with CPCU, Associate in Management, Associate in Research and Planning, and Associate in Underwriting designations. She recently completed an E-Commerce Professional program at Emory University in Atlanta.

 

 

 

James M. Anderson, JD

Jim Anderson is an attorney with 30 years combined experience in insurance management and the practice of law.  A private law practice focusing on insurance defense, insurance regulation, and insurance management issues and service as General Counsel to an insurance and financial services organization have given him a unique combination of experience and expertise to deal with the issues facing insurance organizations and those dealing with those entities.  Mr. Anderson serves as an adjunct staff member to handle projects related to litigation management, training, claims auditing, and regulatory assistance.  He is also available as an expert witness in cases involving bad faith exposures, insurance industry customs, and claim department standards.

In dealing with his areas of expertise, Mr. Anderson has written and published articles, has organized and been a speaker at numerous seminars, has served in leadership positions within the Bar, has testified before legislative bodies, and has drafted legislation to effect improvements in the systems within which insurance organizations must function.  He has written litigation management plans and has developed strategies for their monitoring and enforcement.  He has overseen the design and implementation of a medical cost containment system in the workers’ compensation arena.  And he has been a part of the executive management team of insurance services organizations with overall responsibility for claim operations.

Mr. Anderson is included in The Best Lawyers in America, 1997-1998, 1999-2000, and 2001-2002 and Martindale-Hubbell has issued to him its highest (“av”) rating.  He holds a Juris Doctorate, Cum Laude, from the Mississippi College School of Law in Clinton, Mississippi and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. 

 

   

 

 

 

Thomas G. Lamparter, LPCS

 

Thomas G. Lamparter has extensive experience in a wide variety of property and casualty insurance claims activities.  Mr. Lamparter gained experience as a field investigator and multi-line claims adjuster with Sentry-Dairyland Insurance Company in Baton Rouge, LA prior to beginning his claims management career with Viking Insurance Company in Irvine, CA.  In his 20 years in various claims management roles with Viking and later with Superior Insurance Company in Orange, CA and ultimately in Superior’s Atlanta, GA home office, Mr. Lamparter has been pivotal in the development of claim department employees, policies and procedures.  Among other activities, Mr. Lamparter has been directly & deeply involved in the authorship of several Claim Handling Procedures manuals.  Further, he has designed and implemented training programs for claims adjusters and claims management personnel.  Mr. Lamparter has been engaged in claim file audits involving 1000’s of claim files during his claim management career.  These audits involved file review, result summation, result presentation, including recommendations for corrective action.  The development of a claim file review and audit program was one of many programs initiated by Mr. Lamparter during his tenure with Superior Insurance Company in Atlanta, GA.  While with both Viking and Superior, Mr. Lamparter had extensive involvement in the reorganization and revitalization of the Claims organization, personally involved in such diverse activities as office relocations & consolidations; development of specifications for a new computerized claims handling system; selection, design input & implementation of an upgraded telephone system; and direct involvement in the development of job descriptions & compensation policy.

 

Mr. Lamparter’s technical expertise in Claim handling includes direct involvement in all aspects of litigation handling, from the establishment of flat fee agreements with defense attorneys to the analysis and determination of appropriate action plans to be implemented in litigation ranging from cases of serious injury, coverage disputes and allegations of Bad Faith. He has authored Special Investigation Unit procedural guidelines which were accredited with full conformance to insurance regulations in the states of California, Florida, Texas and Kentucky.  Mr. Lamparter has represented Claims organizations in arbitrations, mediations, trials as well as direct discussions with various state’s Department of Insurance personnel.

 

Mr. Lamparter is a well trained and experienced claims executive, having held the positions of Field Claims Investigator, Claims Adjuster, Claim Manager, Regional Claim Manager, Director of Casualty Claims, Assistant Vice President of Claims and Vice President of Claims.  His experience encompasses direct claims handling and claims handling analysis of claims occurring in over 20 states. He has worked within a wide variety of claims environments and has provided valuable input to the organizations that have employed him.  He has played an integral part in the rapid, profitable growth of several Claims organization through the utilization of his analytical, organizational, recruitment and leadership skills.  Mr. Lamparter has provided ongoing training to claims technicians, supervisors and managers on topics ranging from providing excellent customer service to appropriate injury settlement range establishment to negotiating skills & techniques to appropriate employee motivation & disciplinary activities.

 

Mr. Lamparter holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Rider University.  He has attended a multitude of seminars involving technical claim handling and management issues. In March 1999, Mr. Lamparter earned his designation as a Legal Principles Claim Specialist.

 

 

 

Stephan A. Winstead  

 

Steve Winstead is an experienced Insurance professional and Consultant with an extensive multi-line property and casualty background.  He established the first corporate Training Department devoted to Claims management & handling at the Midland Companies, in Memphis, TN.  He has authored over 20 insurance claims courses & programs specifically developed to correct performance deficiencies. He designed specialty programs that significantly reduced costs, and provided the company with a provable 100% return on investment.  He developed and implemented career paths for technical staff, taking an active role in training, coaching & counseling, and appraising performance.  In addition, Mr. Winstead developed and taught a successful Management Training curriculum specifically developed for first time Claims Supervisors. 

Mr. Winstead’s background includes successfully directing the defense of high exposure commercial and personal lines claims & lawsuits, analysis & resolution of complex coverage questions, and direction of an active Special Investigation’s Unit.  He has developed base-line certification tests to evaluate competence and promotion opportunities. He has taught courses in negotiation and alternative forms of conflict resolution. 

Mr. Winstead has served has a successful Director of Training, Operations Manager, Claims Supervisor, and Structured Settlement Specialist.  His business experience includes successfully developing and implementing insurance company training plans, managing the day to day activities of an active corporate training department, as well as conducting needs analysis and continuous evaluation of all training programs.  In addition, as an experienced insurance and training professional, he is skilled at developing successful alliances with managers and staff to identify business and training needs that improve performance and increase profitability.  

Mr. Winstead holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Richmond and is currently working toward his Master of Education degree in Instructional Design & Technology.  He holds certifications in Train the Trainer, various management subjects, and the Microsoft office suite.  He is an active member in his local chapters of the Risk & Insurance Management Society, the American Society for Training & Development, the Society for Insurance Trainers & Educators, his local Claims Association, and the Society for Human Resource Management.
